HPV-related cancer rises, despite higher vaccination rates

The number of cancer cases associated with the human papillomavirus (HPV) is growing even as an increasing number of adolescents are being vaccinated against HPV. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 43,000 people developed HPV-associated cancer in 2015, compared with about 30,000 in 1999, STAT reports, with throat cancer now the most common HPV-related malignancy.
