Does plastic chemical exposure contribute to sudden death of patients on dialysis?

Approximately 14% of the U.S. adult population has impaired kidney function1, 2. End-stage renal disease (ESRD) is characterized by extremely high mortality (20% per year), and a rate of cardiovascular (CV) death that is up to 100 times higher than that in the general population3, 4. The differences in longevity between the ESRD patients and the general population are striking5. Dialysis patients younger than 80 years old are expected to live less than one-third as long as their counterparts without ESRD.
