Macroporous Dual-compartment Hydrogels for Minimally Invasive Transplantation of Primary Human Hepatocytes
Conclusions Cell transplantation devices that assist the anastomosis of grafts with the host can be potentially used as a minimally invasive ectopic liver accessory to augment liver-specific functions as well as potentially treat various pathologies associated with compromised functions of liver, such as hemophilia B or alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency.

Abstract Hepatic dendritic cells represent a unique and multifaceted subset of antigen-presenting leukocytes that orchestrate specified immune responses in the liver. They are constantly exposed to antigens and signals derived not only from the hepatic microenvironment and the systemic circulation but also from the portal vein draining the gut and conveying food antigens as well as microbial compounds. Modulated by these various factors they shape intrahepatic immune responses during acute and chronic liver diseases, hepatocellular carcinoma and allograft tolerance as well as systemic responses to gut-derived comp...

Long-term data show better overall survival after an allogeneic transplant for relapsed follicular lymphoma than with autologous transplant, but an expert wonders about recommending transplant at all.Medscape Medical News
Autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplants have increased globally, but predominantly in high income nations, and there are marked disparities in usage.Medscape Medical News
ConclusionsThe factors associated positively with DKT were duration after surgery, improvement of physical activities, mobility, alleviation of pain, and patient satisfaction.

In this study, we constructed a PEG-MnO2-OPN siRNA nanocomplex via a modular streptavidin bridge for the theranostic treatment of renal carcinoma in vitro and in vivo. This strategy of utilizing PEG-MnO2 nanosheets for OPN siRNA delivery showed effective tumor growth inhibition of 786-O tumor-bearing mice, and such a process could be monitored by the activated T1-weight MRI, illustrating the promising potential of PEG-MnO2 nanosheets for the fabrication of an MRI-based theranostic system.
"Age has no implication in terms of the antimyeloma effect of transplant," said one oncologist. Researchers called this largest study of auto-HCT in older adults with multiple myeloma.Medscape Medical News
