Hi,
I’m currently studying biomedical science and going into my second year. I’ve decided I want to apply for graduate entery medicine after.
My worry is I have a medical assistance dog and have done for the past 2 years. The reason for the dog is I have diabetes type 1 and I have previously suffered extreme hyperglycaemic attack’s without many symptoms which lead to a coma on one occasion. So I was given an assistance dog to help warn me before I went into hyperglycaemia so I could treat it before it was too late. My main worry is would I be able to study medicine, would medical schools accept me or would I be at an disadvantage? My diabetes is much better now and I’m in much better health so fitness wise I’d be fine to study medicine.
