ssi T Abstract Many diseases are related to age, among these neurodegeneration is particularly important. Alzheimer's disease Parkinson's and Glaucoma have many common pathogenic events including oxidative damage, Mitochondrial dysfunction, endothelial alterations and changes in the visual field. These are well known in the case of glaucoma, less in the case of neurodegeneration of the brain. Many other molecular aspects are common, such as the role of endoplasmic reticulum autophagy and neuronal apoptosis while others have been neglected due to lack of space such as inflammatory cytokine or miRNA. Moreover, the l...

Conclusions: DIM is a very rare tumour. The global survival is excellent. Conservative treatment with PT is an efficient alternative to enucleation and allows good local tumour control. Cataract and glaucoma are the main radiation-related complications, but the corneal status was excellent due to the stem cell harvest prior to radiotherapy.Ocul Oncol Pathol

Conclusions: POAG cases and controls had similar neurocognitive function as measured by the MoCA. Among POAG cases, worse VF loss was associated with lower MoCA. Future studies are needed to further elucidate the clinical effect of neuropathy in POAG.Neurodegener Dis 2018;18:315 –321

Abstract Glaucoma is an optic nerve neuropathy of undetermined cause. Although many mechanisms are thought to be involved in the development and progression of the disease, only an increased intraocular pressure has been established as a clinically significant modifiable risk factor. Nevertheless, up to 40% of patients develop glaucoma without evidence of increased intraocular pressure. Ample evidence suggests that alterations in the control of arterial blood might negatively affect optic nerve function. However, evidence-based guidelines on the management of arterial blood pressure in glaucoma patients are lackin...

CONCLUSIONS: We identified low to moderate quality evidence describing post intervention mean ocular perfusion pressure in open angle glaucoma. Bimatoprost increases mean ocular perfusion pressure when compared to timolol. As a class, prostaglandins increase mean ocular perfusion pressure. Prostaglandins may provide beneficial ocular perfusion pressure profiles compared to alternative agents. PMID: 30880485 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

[XEN® Gel Stent for management of chronic open angle glaucoma: A review of the literature (French translation of the article)]. J Fr Ophtalmol. 2019 Mar 14;: Authors: Buffault J, Baudouin C, Labbé A Abstract PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to analyze the change in intraocular pressure (IOP) and glaucoma medications using the XEN® Gel Stent as a solo procedure or in association with phacoemulsification in patients with chronic open angle glaucoma (OAG). METHODS: We included cohort studies with at least one year of follow-up in patients with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG), p...
