[Evolution of the number of incident cases, stage and first treatments for prostate cancer in France between 2001 and 2016]. Prog Urol. 2019 Jan 08;: Authors: Delporte G, Olivier J, Ruffion A, Crouzet S, Cavillon C, Helfrich O, Leroy X, Villers A Abstract INTRODUCTION: No studies of French hospital registries for prostate cancer (PCa) have been published since the 2012 USPSTF recommendations. MATERIAL: This is a multicenter cohort study based on hospital data of prostate biopsies (PB) in 3 health centers between 2001 and 2016. The main objective is to describe the evolution of i...

Authors: Zhang Z, Serrano-Negrón JE, Martínez JA, Baksi K, Banerjee DK Abstract Dolichol phosphate mannose synthase (DPMS) is an inverting GT-A-folded enzyme and classified as GT2 by CAZy. DPMS sequence carries a metal-binding DXD motif, a PKA motif, and a variable number of hydrophobic domains. Human and bovine DPMS possess a single transmembrane domain, whereas that from S. cerevisiae and A. thaliana carry multiple transmembrane domains and are superimposable. The catalytic activity of DPMS is documented in all spheres of life, and the 32kDa protein is uniquely regulated by protein phosphorylation. ...

Induction of Apoptosis in Metastatic Breast Cancer Cells: XV. Downregulation of DNA Polymerase-α - Helicase Complex (Replisomes) and Glyco-Genes. Adv Exp Med Biol. 2018;1112:199-221 Authors: Basu SC, Boyle P, Ma R, Agarwal A, Basu M, Moskal JR, Banerjee S, Tuteja N Abstract In normal and cancer cells, successful cell division requires accurate duplication of chromosomal DNA. All cells require a multiprotein DNA duplication system (replisomes) for their existence. However, death of normal cells in our body occurs through the apoptotic process. During apoptotic process several crucial genes are dow...

Authors: Murdica V, Mancini G, Loberto N, Bassi R, Giussani P, Di Muzio N, Deantoni C, Prinetti A, Aureli M, Sonnino S Abstract Prostate cancer (PC) is one of the most common leading causes of cancer-related death in men. Currently, the main therapeutic approaches available for PC are based on the androgen deprivation and on radiotherapy. However, despite these treatments being initially effective in cancer remission, several patients undergo recurrence, developing a most aggressive and resistant PC.Emerging evidence showed that abiraterone acetate drug will reduce PC recurrence by a mechanism independent of the in...

Conclusions: CRS/HIPEC with MMC had longer median PFS in PC from CRC. PCI≥20 was the only independent predictive factor for survival. Until longer follow-up is available, we recommend using MMC in CRS/HIPEC for PC from CRC. Further prospective randomized studies are necessary. PMID: 30643644 [PubMed - in process]

Authors: Beheshti M, Heinzel A, von Mallek D, Filss C, Mottaghy FM Abstract Defining an optimal therapeutic approach in metastatic castration-resistance prostate cancer (mCRPC) patients in advanced stages is still challenging in routine clinical practice. Prostate- specific membrane antigen (PSMA) targeted radionuclide therapy with β- or α-emitters such as 177-Lutethium (177Lu) or 225-Actinium (225A) has been a main focus at multiple academic researche centers in the last few years. This review article provides an overview of PSMA characteristics, clinical performance, safety and toxicity of PSMA targete...

Owing to the crucial role of MUC1 in cancer dissemination and metastasis, detection and quantification of this biomarker is of great importance in clinical diagnostics. Today, the...
