We were delighted to read Dr Ghai's response to our study. Our intention in publishing our studies ( “What a Shame: Increased Rates of OMS Resident Burnout May Be Related to the Frequency of Shamed Events During Training”1 and “Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Resident Perception of Personal Achievement and Anxiety: A Cross-Sectional Analysis”2) was to generate an ongoing conversation within the field about topics of wellness and burnout. Gender discrimination is of central importance to that discussion, and we are grateful that Dr Ghai brought this topic to the forefront.
