Serelaxin reduces Oxidative Stress and Asymmetric Dimethylarginine in Angiotensin II Induced Hypertension.

We examined the effect of Serelaxin (human recombinant relaxin-2, RLX) in male Sprague-Dawley rats given high dose angiotensin (ANG) II (400ng/kg/min, SC) for 6 weeks or shams. RLX was administered (4 μg/h, SC) to half of the rats in each group after 2 weeks of ANG II for the remaining 4 weeks. ANG II induced hypertension and proteinuria, reduced NO oxidation products (NOx), and increased oxidative stress (NADPH oxidase activity, TBARS and 8-isoprostane excretion) and plasma ADMA. While RLX had no effect in sham rats, RLX attenuated the ANGII-dependent hypertension (165±5 vs 135±13 mm Hg, p

DuvekotAbstractBackgroundIn 2018/2013 both ISSHP and ACOG revised their original statements and postulated new criteria for preeclampsia with and without severe features. Most importantly, preeclampsia can now also be established in the absence of proteinuria when other specific symptoms are present.ObjectiveWhat is the clinical impact of the use of three different new definitions for the diagnosis of preeclampsia?Study designRetrospective cohort study of all pregnant women who gave birth in the Erasmus...

AbstractUrinary tract infection (UTI) is defined as the growth of a significant number of microorganisms of a single species in the urine, in the presence of symptoms. Symptoms in young children are non-specific such as fever without focus; young infants may manifest with irritability, failure to thrive, jaundice, vomiting and diarrhea. Older children usually have symptoms of cystitis or pyelonephritis. Symptoms of cystitis are dysuria, frequency, new onset incontinence and malodorous urine while symptoms of pyelonephritis are high grade fever, flank pain and vomiting. Rapid urine testing by microscopy for pus cells, dipst...

Conclusion: the therapeutic effect of small molecule targeting drug apatinib on gastric cancer is better than that of other drugs, whether in therapeutic effect, drug resistance, adverse reactions or infection control. This study has important reference significance for the follow-up treatment of apatinib and cancer.

The objective of this study was to determine the association of Computed tomography quantified visceral (VAT) and subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) with estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) using CKD-EPI formula, diabetes mellitus, body mass index (BMI), proteinuria, lipid profile, and hypertension. Increased adipose tissue is the primary phenotypic characteristic of obesity. The amount and distribution of adipose tissue is associated with many adverse consequences, as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease etc. Abdominal CT with semi-automated software can quantify adipose tissue and predict the risk...

This study aimed to analyse maternal and foetal condition and pregnancy outcomes of PE patients with different IOS, and to explore the disease progression and characteristics of maternal and foetal outcomes for different IOS, so as to provide the basis for future maternal and foetal monitoring of PE patients.Impact statementWhat is already known on this subject? In 2013, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists revised their definition of PE, sparking a heated debate. Subsequently in 2015, China updated its guidelines to define PE as hypertensive pregnancy accompanied by involvement of any other organ or org...

CONCLUSIONS: Apatinib can improve the disease control rate of recurrent and metastatic cervical cancer when chemotherapy has failed, and the treatment is well tolerated. This represents that apatinib may be a new treatment option for metastatic cervical cancer patients. PMID: 31788992 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Albuminuria acts as a marker of progressive chronic kidney disease and as an indicator for initiation of hypertension treatment via modulation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system with angiotensin receptor blockers or angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors. However, the true significance of albuminuria has yet to be fully defined. Is it merely a marker of underlying pathophysiology, or does it play a causal role in the progression of kidney disease? The answer remains under debate. In this issue of the JCI, Bedin et al. used next-generation sequencing data to identify patients with chronic proteinuria who had bial...
