Substantial Reduction in Driveline Infection Rates with the Modification of Driveline Dressing Protocol
As the number of heart transplants performed per year has plateaued, the use of continuous-flow left ventricular assist devices (CF-LVADs) as both bridge to transplant and destination therapy has increased (1). The increased utilization of CF-LVADs has led to a growing number of patients living longer with durable mechanical circulatory support, and therefore exposed to infectious risks.
