Pedunculated Upper Esophageal Adenocarcinoma in Lynch Syndrome

An 84-year-old woman was referred to our hospital for an esophageal polypoid lesion. Endoscopy showed a pedunculated polyp (Figure A, left) and heterotopic gastric mucosa (HGM) (Figure  A, right, arrow) in the upper esophagus, and histologic examination of the biopsy specimen showed adenocarcinoma (Figure B). Because magnetic resonance imaging showed metastatic brain tumors, polypectomy was not performed and the patient died 3 months later.
