Immunophenotypic Profile and Clinical Outcome of Monoclonal B-cell Lymphocytosis in Kidney Transplantation.

In conclusion, our data suggest that MBL is an age-related disorder, with non-CLL MBL being the most common subtype among KT recipients. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. PMID: 30074641 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Sobrinho G, Ministro A, Silva A, Pedro L Abstract Renal artery aneurysms are rare. They are most commonly degenerative, congenital or due to medial fibroplasia. Proximal aneurysms can be repaired by endovascular and in-situ surgical techniques. However, aneurysms of the distal renal artery and its branches require ex-vivo surgical repair, also known as auto-transplantation: the kidney is removed, dissected and reconstructed in cold ischemia, and put back in place. A 69-year-old woman, with hypertension, presented with bilateral renal artery aneurysms with a diameter of 3.4 cm on the rig...

In this study, the effect on corneal stromal cells of adding decellularized corneal extracellular matrix (ECM) to an electrospun polymer with differing fiber organizations was explored. Electrospun matrices were generated using polycaprolactone (PCL) and PCL combined with ECM and electrospun into random, radial and perpendicularly aligned fiber scaffolds. Human corneal stromal cells were seeded onto these scaffolds and the effect of composition and orientation on the cells phenotype was assessed. Incorporation of ECM into PCL increased hydrophilicity of scaffolds without an adverse effect on Young's modulus. Cells seeded o...

Bertani, Luca Businaro, Paolo Bisegna, Claudia Matteucci, Federica CaselliAbstractThe study and the characterization of cell death mechanisms are fundamental in cell biology research. Traditional death/viability assays usually involve laborious sample preparation and expensive equipment or reagents. In this work, we use electrical impedance spectroscopy as a label-free methodology to characterize viable, necrotic and apoptotic human lymphoma U937 cells. A s...

Abstract Radiation therapy plays a critical role in the management of a wide range of hematologic malignancies. The optimal radiation dose and target volume, and safe and effective ways of integrating radiation with systemic agents, vary depending on the histologic subtypes, stage at presentation, patient performance status, response to systemic therapy if given, treatment intent, and patient preferences. Limiting doses to surrounding organs without sacrificing disease control is of paramount importance. Reducing radiation doses and treatment volume in selected cases, and the use of advanced radiotherapy technolog...

Publication date: Available online 19 November 2019Source: Carbohydrate PolymersAuthor(s): Yang Zhou, Zhipeng Gu, Jie Liu, Keqing Huang, Guiting Liu, Jun WuAbstractBone transplantations are still facing many serious challenges, hydrogel as a new kind of artificial bone substitutes has developed into a promising bone scaffold material. However, it is still a challenge to combine bioactive agents and hydrogel matrix to promote osteoinductivity. Herein, we developed a novel bioactive hydrogel based on arginine-based unsaturated poly (ester amide) (Arg-UPEA) and methacrylated hyaluronic acid (HA-MA) via photo-crosslinking. As ...

Taking advantage of the immune system to exert an antitumor effect is currently a novel approach in cancer therapy. Adoptive transfer of T cells engineered to express chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) targeting a desired antigen has shown extraordinary antitumor activity, especially in refractory and relapsed B-cell malignancies. The most representative in this respect, as well as the most successful example, is CD19 CAR T-cell therapy in B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). However, with the widespread use of CAR T-cell therapy, problems of resistance and relapse are starting to be considered. This review provides...

Conclusion: The overall characteristics of SAP deficiency in mainland China were consistent with those in previous reports, whereas manifestations of XIAP deficiency varied significantly. None of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has been reported among XIAP-deficient patients in our center; however, whether Chinese XIAP-deficient patients will develop colitis in the future warrants further investigation. HSCT is the only curative therapy for XLP and this therapy should be urgently considered. What is Known:•SAP and XIAP deficiencies share common clinical feature,HLH,whereas they also have their own specific manifestati...
