Heel quantitative ultrasound in psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis: A cross-sectional study
Purpose: The concept that psoriasis is a systemic inflammatory disorder has been well established. Thus, psoriasis has been linked to a number of different comorbid health conditions, including cardiovascular, metabolic and rheumatologic disorders, together with infections. Previous studies examining the relationship between psoriasis, osteoporosis and pathologic fractures found conflicting results. Dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) represents the reference standard to assess bone mineral density; however, it is not easily accessible in several settings.
