The articular manifestations of hidradenitis suppurativa

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic follicular occlusion disease that has a tendency to affect the axillae, perineum and inframammary regions. Although primarily thought of as a cutaneous disorder, HS is now not only acknowledged to have skin manifestations, but is increasingly recognized as having systemic manifestations and being associated with other conditions including metabolic syndrome, diabetes, lipid abnormalities, inflammatory bowel disease and depression. This poster aims to shed light on the articular manifestations associated with HS so that dermatologists may recognize this arthritis and arrange early rheumatologic consultation.
