Comprehensive bibliometric evaluation of the global scientific production on Hantaviruses
Background: Hantaviruses, like other members of the Bunyaviridae family, are emerging viruses that are able to cause hemorrhagic fevers. They are the etiological agents of 2 syndromes geographically distributed: hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) in Europe and Asia, and hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome (HCPS) in America. There are 52 hantavirus species. Research on them, has not been equal. So far, there is no comprehensive bibliometric studies assessing advances in their research.
