Identification of Candida species and clinical approach in women with Vulvovaginal Candidiasis in a period of 10 years

Background: Candida spp has lately become a common etiology in female genital infections. Vulvovaginal Candidiasis (VVC) is defined as the association of signs and symptoms of vulvovaginal inflammation in the presence of Candida species and the absence of other etiologies. It is usually observed in the context of diabetes, antibiotic therapy and pregnancy, having studies that estimate that about 75% of women will have an episode in their life.
