Pre-publication notice of proposed rule from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services to revise the Medicare Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System and the Medicare Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) Payment System for calendar year 2019. The proposed rural also updates requirements for the Hospital Outpatient quality reporting (OQR) program and ASC quality reporting program, requests information on promoting interoperability and the exchange of electronic health care information, and proposes to modify the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) Survey measure by removing pain-related questions. Includes considerations for rural providers throughout. Comments on the rule are due by September 24, 2018. Official publication of the proposed rule in the Federal Register is scheduled for July 31, 2018.
