Role of FDG PET-CT in the treatment management of Hodgkin lymphoma.

Role of FDG PET-CT in the treatment management of Hodgkin lymphoma. Cancer Radiother. 2018 Jul 19;: Authors: Berriolo-Riedinger A, Becker S, Casasnovas O, Vander Borght T, Édeline V Abstract Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positons emission tomography (PET)-computed tomography (CT) is used in many ways at baseline and during the treatment of patients with Hodgkin lymphoma. Many properties of the technique are used in the different steps of patient's management. Initial staging with PET-CT is more accurate than conventional imaging and PET-CT also became the gold standard imaging at the end of treatment with a negative PET-CT mandatory for reaching a complete remission. Early assessment of response by PET-CT is one of the most powerful prognostic factors for progression-free survival of patients with localized and advanced stages and allows guiding treatment. Conversely, previous studies showed that there is no role of FDG PET-CT for the patient's follow-up. PMID: 30033076 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

AbstractPurposePatients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) have a median age of 67, with 70% surviving over 5 years. Chemotherapy for aggressive NHL includes cyclophosphamide, anthracycline, and high doses of corticosteroids, which can impair bone health. By reviewing clinical characteristics and standard-of-care CT scans, we evaluate the prevalence and incidence of fractures and the clinical correlates of fractures in patients treated for aggressive B-cell NHL.MethodsWe retrospectively reviewed patients seen at the University of California San Francisco lymphoma clinic from January 1, 2016, to March 31, 2017 who had (1) aggr...

The secondary ALK alterations were adversely associated with ensartinib response duration in NSCLC, and ALK variants might not correlate with PFS. CT quantitative radiomic signature could add prognostic prediction value of clinicopathological features. AbstractBackgroundHere, we aimed to assess the association of ALK variants and alterations with ensartinib response duration in NSCLC, and explore the potential value of computed tomography (CT) radiomic features in predicting progression-free survival (PFS).MethodsWe enrolled 88 patients with identified ALK variant NSCLC in a multicenter phase 2 trial, and assessed the impa...

AbstractGallbladder metastasis (GM) is a rare condition, often with a late diagnosis or detected upon autopsy. There is no extensive literature on the imaging diagnosis of GM. Here we present a comprehensive review of the literature with the aim of helping to interpret the clinical findings and imaging features of such patients. Few studies on GM are reported in literature. GM by melanoma accounts for about 55.6% of cases. The remaining cases origin from breast cancer (13.6%), hepatocellular carcinoma (13.6%), renal cell carcinoma (6.8%), lung cancer (4.5%), lymphoma (3.5%) and gastric cancer (2.4%). The most common clinic...

Biomark Res. 2021 Jul 2;9(1):52. doi: 10.1186/s40364-021-00306-8.ABSTRACTResponse Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) is the gold standard for assessment of treatment response in solid tumors. Morphologic change of tumor size evaluated by RECIST is often correlated with survival length and has been considered as a surrogate endpoint of therapeutic efficacy. However, the detection of morphologic change alone may not be sufficient for assessing response to new anti-cancer medication in all solid tumors. During the past fifteen years, several molecular-targeted therapies and immunotherapies have emerged in cancer tre...

Rationale: Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) inhibitors have been approved for patients with ALK-rearrangement lung cancer. The effect is superior to the standard first-line therapy of pemetrexed plus platinum-based chemotherapy. However, ALK inhibitors are associated with rare and sometimes fatal adverse events. Organizing pneumonitis (OP) is a rare and serious adverse event usually caused by ceritinib, and it is easily misdiagnosed as infectious pneumonia, metastasis, or cancer progression. Patient concerns: A 56-year-old female presented with chest tightness and dyspnea for more than 10 days. She was previou...

CONCLUSIONS: Patients with breast carcinoma have a risk of other synchronous primary malignancy. So, careful preoperative examination is recommended to improve the patients' prognosis. MDCT scanning is accurately imaging modality for evaluation of synchronous breast carcinoma and other solid malignancies. The aim of treatment in cancer patients should always be curative even in the presence of multiple malignancies.PMID:34120894 | DOI:10.3233/BD-201065
