Helicobacter pylori infection and immune profile of patients with different gastroduodenal diseases

CONCLUSION: Our study shows that the interaction between the type of infectious strain and the Th1 immune response can influence and perpetuate gastric inflammation, and thus contributes to the development of the different clinical manifestations of H. pylori infection.RESUMO CONTEXTO: A associa ção da infecção por Helicobacter pylori com diferentes doenças gastroduodenais pode estar associada a fatores bacterianos, do hospedeiro e do ambiente.

This study discusses the construction of devices for the production of psychosocial care, which are based on the proposal of Gaining Autonomy&Medication Management in Primary Health Units in S ão Paulo, where groups were formed based on co-management and sharing of experiences, formed by psychiatric medication users. Workers moderated these groups and attended weekly support workshops for 15 months. This process has given visibility to a complex problematic condition in which the increas ing mass prescription of psychiatric drugs over the years in primary care and the concentration of health responsibility on me...

The objective of this research is to measure their quality of life and to understand the needs and expectations of African refugee families in relation to health. The study was performed in two moments: a quantitative and a qualitative one. Participants responded to the WHOQOL-Bref quality of life scale. A sample family was extracted to compose the structural genogram and to participate in a semi-structured interview with a guiding question. The quantitative analysis was done by descriptive statistics and the discourses obtained were evaluated by the content analysis proposed by Laurence Bardin. Results showed, in the 0 to...

This article analyzes the perceptions of community leaders and/or residents of a poor neighborhood in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, regarding the State ’ s action in FNS. The methodology combined conceptual maps and focus group that were implemented in two different moments (2014 and 2016, respectively) of a participatory action research. Results highlight, at both times, the distance of local actors regarding FNS policies. At the beginning of the action research, perceptions on FNS emphasized individuals ’ responsibility, showing the unawareness on the human right to food. Two years later, narratives of the focus g...

This study aims to analyze the sociocultural context related to this event: the lynching of a mentally ill woman. Traditional anthropology research methods were utilized, among them ethnographic observation and in-depth interviews with Morrinhos ’ inhabitants. The data analysis allowed us to point out that violence is vividly present there and is directly related to everyday conflicts and social disputes of all possible contexts in the neighborhood - especially those manifested through violence against the mentally ill. The spreading of those rumors is frequent in Morrinhos and has an important role in maintaining a ...

Background: Increasingly, studies have focused on the relationship between Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) cytotoxin associated gene A protein (CagA) Glu-Pro-Ile-Tyr-Ala (EPIYA)-D motifs or multiple EPIYA-C phosphorylation sites and peptic ulcer disease (PUD) or gastric cancer (GC) risk. However, the conclusions have been inconsistent. The aim of this meta-analysis was to evaluate whether 1 CagA EPIYA-D motif or multiple EPIYA-C phosphorylation sites were associated with PUD or GC risk. Materials and methods: A literature search was performed in PubMed, Web of Science, Wanfang Data, Excerpt Medica Database, and the Chinese...

Conclusion: H. pylori was a major risk factor for peptic ulcer disease. However, NSAID-related gastro-duodenal injury has been shown to be common in H. pylori infected patients. It highlights the need for awareness of the adverse gastro intestinal effects in a H. pylori endemic area. Keywords: Peptic ulcer, Helicobacter, NSAIDs, endoscopy, Ghana

Abstract Peptic ulcer predicts gastric cancer. It is controversial if peptic ulcers predict other gastrointestinal cancers, potentially related to Helicobacter pylori or shared lifestyle factors. We hypothesized that gastric and duodenal ulcers may have different impact on the risk of gastrointestinal cancers. In a nationwide cohort study using Danish medical databases 1994–2013, we quantified the risk of gastric and other gastrointestinal cancers among patients with duodenal ulcers (dominantly H. pylori‐related) and gastric ulcers (dominantly lifestyle‐related) compared with the general population. We started fo...
