J & J, UPenn announce launch of Philly JLabs healthcare incubator

Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) said this week that it, alongside the University of Pennsylvania, have launched a new J&J Innovation JLabs incubator in Philadelphia. The new JPod incubator will be located within the University of Pennsylvania’s Pennovation Center with a goal of accelerating the development of early-stage healthcare solutions from the local area. As part of the launch of the incubator, JLabs and the Pennovation Center are also launching the Jpod @ Philaedlphia Quickfire Challenge, through which individuals or teams can submit products for a chance to win access to educational programs and mentoring from J&J and its network of experts. “Healthcare innovators are mission driven, smart and ambitious, but their game-changing ideas have a long, risky and expensive journey to reach the patients and consumers. By providing access to the expertise and resources of the Johnson & Johnson Family of companies, we hope the innovators in Philadelphia and across Pennsylvania will increase their probability of making a difference for all of us,” JLabs global head Melinda Richter said in a press release. Last month, J&J opened a JLabs site in New York City at the genome center in SoHo. The post J&J, UPenn announce launch of Philly JLabs healthcare incubator appeared first on MassDevice.
