Liver disease deaths skyrocket among young adults
Deaths caused by liver disease are up dramatically and young adults were the hardest hit.
A new study, published in the British Medical Journal, said cirrhosis-related deaths increased by 65 percent from 1999 to 2016, and deaths from liver cancer doubled, The Washington Post reported. The rise in death rates was driven predominantly by alcohol-induced disease, the study said.
