Entrepreneurial urbanism and technological panacea: Why Smart City planning needs to go beyond corporate visioning?

By briefly contextualizing the entrepreneurial smart city endeavor, I discuss four major concerns that entrepreneurial aspirations may raise: i) the usage, appropriation, and effectiveness of technology, ii) social polarization, iii) switching costs, and iv) data management. The overall aim of this perspective article is to educate and caution enthusiasts, policy makers and practitioners about the need to address these concerns in order to build inclusive smart cities.
