Lake bed reveals details about ancient Earth

(Rice University) Sulfate samples from an ancient lake bed yield new clues about the 'Boring Billion' years in Earth history between 'oxygenation events' that allowed life as we know it. A Rice University postdoctoral researcher's tests revealed the oxygen anomaly that gave researchers a glimpse into conditions 1.4 billion years ago.
