Laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy in a patient with situs inversus totalis

A 31-year-old Chinese woman (gravida 3, para 2) presented to our hospital for requesting termination of an early pregnancy at 8 weeks. The length of her menstrual cycle was 30 days, with bleeding lasting roughly 6 to 7 days. She has been found to have situs inversus totalis (SIT) since childhood when a doctor failed to hear heart sounds in her left chest during health examination. At presentation chest X-ray revealed dextrocardia (Fig. 1). Echocardiography showed no abnormalities in cardiac morphology, structure and valve activity.
