Convergence of synaptic signals is mediated by a protein critical for learning and memory

(Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience) Researchers at the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience demonstrate that PKC is a highly versatile molecule, capable of assimilating many disparate sources of information. Because of this adaptability, the protein is well poised as a mediator of the processes underlying synaptic plasticity and learning. This work represents a substantial advancement in the field, providing integral tools that will enable the disentanglement of complex signaling related to learning and memory.
