More than the prostate: Intrapancreatic accessory spleen and papillary thyroid cancer detected with 18F-PSMA PET/CT.

CONCLUSION: This is the first case to our knowledge describing both such lesions in one patient and the first case describing the use of 2-(3-{1-carboxy-5-[(6-[18F]fluoro-pyridine-3-carbonyl)-amino]-pentyl}-ureido)-pentanedioic acid (18F-DCFPyL)-PSMA PET/CT to detect IPAS. Furthermore we highlight the value of nuclear medicine diagnostic work up in complex cases. PMID: 30006647 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

It is currently recognized that in addition to the major impact of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in females, HPV causes considerable disease in men at the genitals, anal canal, and oropharynx. Specifically, genital HPV infections may progress to genital warts and penile carcinoma. Although studies concerning the natural history of HPV infections and associated neoplasias have mainly focused on women, during the last 2 decades considerable attention has been given in further understanding these infections in men. The HIM (HPV infection in men) Study, the only prospective multicenter study of male HPV natural history,...

Sexual intercourse is regarded as the primary route of human papillomavirus (HPV) transmission. Reported rates of the genotype-specific genital concordance of HPV infection among heterosexual partners vary. Most studies have evaluated only male/female genital transmission, but lately, the oral region has gained interest because of a rising trend of HPV-associated oropharyngeal cancer. Risk factors for type-specific concordance have been reported as an increasing number of younger couples, persistent HPV infection, higher frequency of sexual intercourse, rising number of spouse ’s lifetime sexual partners, and sexual ...

OVs can revert cancer-associated immune suppression and initiate clinically meaningful antitumor immune responses. OVs and their resultant immunological events can act at both primary and metastatic sites. Thus, OVs can be exploited for cancer gene therapies and immunotherapies alone or in combination with other interventions, including immune checkpoint blockade.

Here, we show that the convergence of dietary factors (high-fat diet) and dysregulated WNT signaling (APC mutation) alters BA profiles to drive malignant trans...

Using a time-dependent approach, we investigated all-site and site-specific cancer incidence in a large population stratified by diabetes status. The study analyzed a closed cohort comprised of Israelis aged 21–89 years, enrolled in a health fund, and followed from 2002 to 2012. Adjusting for age, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status, we calculated hazard ratios for cancer incidence using Cox regression separately for participants with prevalent and incident diabetes; the latter was further divided by time since diabetes diagnosis. Of the 2,186,196 individuals included in the analysis, 159,104 were classified as havin...

Conclusion: Our study highlights the importance of epigenetic deregulation in NPC. A novel genomic region on 6p with aberrant methylation was identified. This region contains several important genes that have great potential to be used as biomarkers for NPC early detection. The global genome-wide unbiased approach is useful to discover potential biomarkers for early diagnosis and prognosis in cancers.Acknowledgements: NPC AoE funding was provided by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (AoE/M-06/08) to MLL and HKU Small Project Funding to WD.Citation Format: Wei Dai, Arthur Kwok Leung Cheung, Josephine Mun Yee Ko, Hong Zh...
