Grape seeds and grape skin induce tumor growth inhibition via G1-phase arrest and apoptosis in mice inoculated with Ehrlich ascites carcinoma.

Cancer chemo-prevention represents a promising strategy to control the occurrence of cancer. While cancer chemo-preventive drugs have been developed to prevent the growth of tumor cells in cancer patients, many of these drugs have shown to be toxic, such as breast cancer drugs amoxifen or raloxifene, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory colon cancer drugs. Therefore, naturally occurring compounds may offer promising alternative means for cancer chemo-prevention. The ability of natural products to suppress carcinogenesis has attracted the widespread attention as a means of cancer prevention and treatment [1-7].
