Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer-related deaths in the world. Adenocarcinoma represents a histologic form of lung cancer which accounts for>60% of all cases. The need to establish non-invasive diagnostic markers in lung cancer is urgent, both in early and advanced stages, where current diagnostics rely on the result of a tissue biopsy [1].
