Human Cystatin SN is an endogenous protease inhibitor that prevents allergic rhinitis

This study shows that Cystatin SN suppresses Japanese-Cedar-induced allergic rhinitis. Cystatin SN inhibits Japanese Cedar protease activities, which protects the nasal epithelial barrier. Upregulation of Cystatin SN may be beneficial for protease-allergen-induced allergic rhinitis.
