Sensitization to Aeroallergens in Patients with Primary Immunodeficiencies
Conclusion: The frequency of allergenic sensitization in the group of patients with PID and symptoms suggestive of asthma, rhinitis, or atopic dermatitis is lower than that found in the general population, probably due the impairment of IgE formation secondary to their immunologic alterations.Int Arch Allergy Immunol

Publication date: Available online 24 January 2020Source: Journal of Genetics and GenomicsAuthor(s): Qianru Huang, Xu Liu, Yujia Zhang, Jingyao Huang, Dan Li, Bin LiAbstractRegulatory T (Treg) cells, a subtype of CD4+ T cells with distinct immunosuppressive, are vital for maintaining immune homeostasis in healthy people. FOXP3 (Forkhead box protein P3), a member of the forkhead–winged-helix family, is the pivotal transcriptional factor of Treg. The expression, post-translational modifications and protein complex of FOXP3 present a great impact on the functional stability and immune plasticity of Treg in vivo. In part...
In this study many children younger than 18 years old with asthma were collected from University hospital outpatient clinics throughout two years period Their MDI inhalation technique was checked and the number of MDI inhalation technique mistakes were detected and corrected at the first visit and every month for two more visits (three visits). Their peak expiratory flow (PEF) and forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1) as a percentage of the forced vital capacity (FVC) were checked at every visit.Results81 asthmatic subjects (54 female) younger than 18 years old were collected with a mean (SD) age 14.4 (1.8) years old. M...
Conclusion: Our findings indicate that acute MOG-Ab ON shows florid intra-orbital and peri-optic inflammation, likely to involve meninges and nociceptive fibers around the optic nerve. This may explain the frequent and often severe frontal or orbital headache that precedes the visual deficit, sometimes misdiagnosed as migraine.
We describe an instructive case of a woman with cystic lungs detected during a search for malignancy prompted by a diagnosis of dermatomyositis. Malignancy was indeed uncovered in the form of endometrial carcinoma, the management of which eventually also established the etiology of cystic lung disease. In the discussion we attempt to connect the patient's autoimmune disease, uterine cancer, and lung cysts. The potential interplay among these three components of her presentation makes for intriguing mechanistic speculation. PMID: 31970965 [PubMed - in process]
ConclusionAlthough P. acidus has been proven as a valuable medicinal source from its traditional uses. However, the pharmacological experiments conducted were not sufficient to verify its traditional uses. More investigation is required to confirm the traditional claims such as bioassay-guided isolation of bioactive compounds, detailed pharmacological investigations, clinical studies, and its toxicity investigation. Additionally, an experimental design with sufficient data replication, the use of controls and authenticated research materials, and the selection of a rationale dose or concentration for the analysis are keys ...

ConclusionsThe prospectively defined incidence of FPIAP when diagnosed clinically by community pediatricians without challenge is markedly higher than published estimates. Combination feeding of formula and breast milk is associated with the lowest rate of FPIAP in this population.
CONCLUSION: Regulatory T cells play an important role in the pathogenesis of cancer and allergies, and thus represent a therapeutic target. PMID: 31970443 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
