VEGF-Grab enhances the efficacy of radiotherapy by blocking VEGF-A and treatment-induced PlGF
The rationale and efficacy of combining VEGF-Grab, a VEGF-A- and PlGF-neutralizing antibody, and radiotherapy were studied. Changes in PlGF level were studied in cells, mouse models, and patients with solid tumors after radiotherapy and the efficacy of combination treatment was tested using syngeneic and human tumor models in mice. Our data indicate that PlGF is increased in response to radiation, rationalizing the use of VEGF-Grab, and that VEGF-Grab and radiotherapy mutually potentiate their anti-tumor effects.
