DISCUSSION: 5-HT7 receptors in the PrL are involved in the regulation of anxiety-like behaviors, which is attributable to changes in dopamine, 5-HT and NA levels in the limbic and limbic-related brain regions after activation and blockade of 5-HT7 receptors. Anxiety is a highly prevalent neuropsychiatric feature in Parkinson's disease (PD) (Broen  et al., 2016), occurring more frequently in PD than in the general elderly population (Baxter et al., 2013). ConclusionsMMBCEP, a complex exercise program-based on mindfulness meditation, is associated with increased motor symptoms, decreased emotional disturbances (anxiety and depression) and sleep disturbance, and improved cognitive functions, quality of life, and activities of daily living. ConclusionsEvidence suggests that nortriptyline, venlafaxine, paroxetine, and citalopram may be useful in treating depression in PD, although studies on paroxetine and citalopram yield conflicting results. In clinical practice, however, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors are usually considered the treatment of choice.
