BilbaoAbstractThe kinetic behavior for methanol dehydration of different SAPOs (-11 and -18) and HZSM-5 zeolites (with different acidity and various acidity modification treatments) has been studied under the suitable conditions for the direct synthesis of dimethyl ether (DME) from H2 + CO + CO2. SAPO-11 shows a good performance for methanol dehydration, with DME yield above 80% and negligible paraffin formation, and has been assessed as acid function of a bifunctional catalyst in the single-stage synthesis of DME (with CuO–ZnO–ZrO2 as metallic function, metallic/acid mass ratio = 1/2). The bifunctional catalyst (CZZr/S-11) shows a stable kinetic behavior with high selectivity to DME (over 80%).Graphical abstract
