Severe aggression after perampanel overdose: case report

Perampanel (PER) is a non-competitive α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA) glutamate receptor antagonist, first in its pharmacologic class to be proposed as an anticonvulsant. As a relatively new agent, systematic reviews and reports on this drug's benefits and adverse effects are still quite limited. This is the first case report of PER overdose in a patient without a previously documented history of seizure disorder or existing prescription of PER, and it is the second case report of any PER overdose.
