This study investigates the role of LAMC2 in epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and angiogenesis in CCA and explores the underlying mechanism(s) . Differentially expressed genes related to CCA were initially screened using a microarray analysis, and the interaction between LAMC2 and the EGFR signaling pathway was identified.

The Lancet Published:July 20, 2019DOI:https://doi.org/10.1016/S0140-6736(19)31146-8 Oral diseases are among the most prevalent diseases globally and have serious health and economic burdens, greatly reducing quality of life for those affected. The most prevalent and consequential oral diseases globally are dental caries (tooth decay), periodontal disease, tooth loss, and cancers of the lips and oral cavity. In this first of two papers in a Series on oral health, we describe the scope of the global oral disease epidemic, its origins in terms of social and commercial determinants, and its costs in terms of p...

AbstractPurpose of ReviewSince the nineteenth century, the surgical methods used to perform open cervical thyroidectomy have improved significantly, resulting in substantially reduced rates of mortality and morbidity. The most up-to-date techniques today now focus on the need to limit the extent of any visible scarring, which requires that surgeons make their incisions in locations which minimize their likelihood of being noticed.Recent FindingsDuring the past two decades, several remote access approaches have been developed for use in the field of endoscopic and robotic thyroidectomy, and these have proved a popular alter...

In conclusion, the results of the present study suggest that miR‑543 acts as a tumor promoter and serves a vital role in OSCC proliferation and invasion. These results confirm that miR‑543 may serve as a potential novel target for the treatment of OSCC. PMID: 31322243 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

In this study, we analyzed the expression of the stem cell protein PIWIL2 in oral squamous-cell carcinoma (OSCC) and in premalignant oral leukoplakia (OL) with predominant expression in malignant and premalignant tissues. In the evaluated patients, we found that PIWIL2 was associated significantly with OSCC prognosis and OL. Furthermore, PIWIL2 was found to be expressed in tumor epithelial cells and macrophages in the tumor microenvironment, which are not derived from enlarged lymph nodes. Cytological experiments confirmed that the human squamous cell carcinoma cell line SCC-25, can promote the PIWIL2 and Nanog level in TH...

Publication date: 15 October 2019Source: Journal of Organometallic Chemistry, Volume 898Author(s): Kar Bee Choo, Sui Mae Lee, Wai Leng Lee, Yuen Lin CheowAbstractA series of bidendate pyridine-functionalized metal N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes with various wingtip substituents (R = methyl, phenyl and tert-butyl) had been prepared from silver oxide-mediated transmetalation method. The basic backbone of the NHC ligands were prepared in two stepwise reactions: reduction of the commercially available 2-benzoylpyridine, followed by halogenation to yield 2-(chloro(phenyl)methyl)pyridine. Subsequent reactions with di...
