ConclusionsSeveral circulating lymphocyte subpopulations in patients with ISM were significantly different when compared to healthy controls; and in specific lymphocyte subsets, this lymphocyte skewing correlated with clinical observations including osteoporosis and autoimmune disease. These data suggest the need for further studies on abnormalities in lymphocyte subsets and the attendant clinical consequences in both mast cell proliferative and activation disorders.

Group Abstract The aim of the study is to propose a multidimensional second-level diagnostic assessment to allow follow-up in the event physicians observe the presence of risk factors and/or active comorbidities in HIV-infected patients. To develop our proposal, we chose the Delphi method that has been used for about 30 years in the healthcare field. The CISAI Group (Coordinamento Italiano per lo Studio dell'Allergia in Infezione da HIV) conducted this ...

Authors: Calza L, di Pietro G, Colangeli V, Borderi M, Zaghi I, Malosso P, Bon I, Re MC, Viale P Abstract The aim of our study was to assess risk factors associated with vitamin D deficiency among HIV-1-infected patients on combination antiretroviral therapy (cART). A retrospective, case-control study was conducted to assess risk factors associated with vitamin D deficiency among HIV-1-infected adults on stable cART. Vitamin D deficiency was defined as 25-OH vitamin D concentration 600 cells/mmc and current HIV RNA

Currently, there is an increasing demand for treatment of osteoporosis with plant-based medicines. In the present study, we report that heraclenin was extracted and purified from unripe fruit portion of Bael (Aegle marmelos Corr.) using silica gel column chromatography. The identification and characterization of heracleni...

This study aimed to verify the association between osteoprotegerin gene (OPG) and its variants with osteoporosis (OP) by performing integrative analysis.MethodsWe used the KGG software to perform gene-based association analysis, which integrated all publicly available single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)-based P values and obtained an overall P value for the OPG. The significant SNPs were screened for expression quantitative trait loci (eQTLs). Meta-analysis was used to combine the associations between the variants of OPG and bone mineral density (BMD) reported in the literatures. Then we performed dual-luciferase reporter...

MahadyAbstractOsteoporosis and osteopenia impact more than 54 million Americans, resulting in significant morbidity and mortality. Alterations in bone remodeling are the hallmarks for osteoporosis, and thus the development of novel treatments that will prevent or treat bone diseases would be clinically significant, and improve the quality of life for these patients. Bone remodeling involves the removal of old bone by osteoclasts and the formation of new bone by osteoblasts. ...
