Persistent hyperglycemia induces oxidative stress and is suggested to play a prominent role in the pathophysiology underlying T2DM. Besides, oxidative stres...
CONCLUSIONS: MHO increased the prevalence of carotid plaque when compared with non-obese subjects, suggesting the potential significance of MHO in the development of subsequent cardiovascular diseases. PMID: 31231080 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

ConclusionAfter adjustment for potential confounders, we observed an inverse association for nut consumption and obesity but positive association for DM and nut intake. On the basis of our findings, it is suggested that incorporation of nuts into people's usual diet may have beneficial effects for individuals with lower risk such as subjects without DM.
Publication date: Available online 25 June 2019Source: IDCasesAuthor(s): Saeid Mirzai, Ahmad Oussama Rifai, Shana Webb, Kareem Rifai, Reiner AmandaAbstractClostridium septicum encephalitis is a rare cause of spontaneous, non-traumatic pneumocephalus. Systemic infections with this organism have a fulminant course, likely leading to death within 48 hours, and are commonly associated with hematological or colonic malignancies. The effectiveness of an antibacterial regimen is unknown because of a lack of studies. The best prognosis is observed in patients undergoing early surgical intervention for localized intracranial...
Publication date: Available online 24 June 2019Source: Journal of Applied Research on Medicinal and Aromatic PlantsAuthor(s): Edgar L. Uquiche, María T. Toro, Roberto A. QuevedoAbstractThe aim of this work was to investigate the effect of temperature (40―60 °C), pressure (10―20 MPa) and co-solvent concentration (0―2 wt.%) on extraction yield from L. rivularis leaves using ethanol-modified supercritical carbon dioxide. Extraction assays were carried out in a Process Development Unit using a Box-Behnken design. Extraction yield ranged from 14.7 to 53.1 g/kg dry substrate, with the...
CONCLUSION: Older adults living with non-communicable diseases are at a higher risk for loneliness. Mutual help groups kind of models can be developed to help in "re-peopling" elderly. Primary health centres should help in improving the overall health and morale amongst the elderly by stamping down their apprehensions and anxieties.
