U.S. regulator backs Takeda's $62B acquisition of Shire

Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. has secured approval from U.S. regulators for its acquisition of Shire plc, a $62 billion deal that will create the largest life sciences employer in Massachusetts. Takeda said Tuesday that it received "unconditional approval" from the Federal Trade Commission to move forward with the deal, which was first announced in early May.
