Clinicopathological implications of met exon 14 mutations in non-small cell lung cancer – a systematic review and meta-analysis

c-MET is an oncogene encoding the MET tyrosine kinase receptor that presents mostly in epithelial cells. Activation of the tyrosine kinase receptor by its ligand can trigger mitogenesis and morphogenesis, thus control cell growth and migration. MET receptor plays an important role in embryogenesis, tumor growth and metastasis [1]. MET pathway dysregulation has been found in non-small cell lung cancer, as well as other solid tumors, including breast, cervical, gastric and colon cancer [2,3].
