Successful treatment of breakthrough disseminated Trichosporon asahii fungemia in a patient with acute myeloid leukemia receiving itraconazole prophylaxis

Cryptococcal antigen was useful for diagnosis. Although itraconazole was ineffective in protecting against trichosporonosis, treatment was successful with voriconazole following liposomal amphotericin B.
