Differentiation of adrenal incidentalomas by qualitative and quantitative analytical data obtained by 18F-FDG positron emission tomography/computed tomography in cancer patients

ConclusionThe quantitative (T/L SUVratio at cut-off value > 1.60 and SUVmax at cut-off value > 2.97) and qualitative (activity score of ≥ 2) analytic data obtained by 18F-FDG PET/CT can be considered as powerful parameters for identification and differentiation of adrenal incidentalomas in cancer patients.

Conclusions: This series suggests the use of antiplatelet or anticoagulant medication is not an absolute contraindication to fiducial marker placement in patients undergoing SBRT or IGRT for prostate cancer. These patients should be closely monitored after the procedure for bleeding complications. Practitioners may consider the patient's medical comorbidities, risk factors for thromboembolism, and overall functional status as there is no standardized protocol for discontinuing anticoagulant or antiplatelet therapy for fiducial marker placement.

DISCUSSION: For a diagnosis of primary breast cancer of the vulva, a thorough metastatic workup should be performed, with attention directed toward detecting a breast primary disease by results of the history, physical examination, and radiologic examination of the breasts mainly to help confirm that the vulvar lesion is the primary site as opposed to metastasis from a breast primary cancer and also for staging. Management of this rare entity is challenging because of a lack of specific guidelines, and treatment, therefore, is similar to that of breast cancer.Treatment should consist of an individualized combination of sur...

ConclusionsNegative68Ga-PSMA PET/CT results were highly reliable in our study. Positive68Ga-PSMA PET/CT results, however, revealed less reliable results. Larger and ideally prospective trials are justified to clarify the potential role of PSMA PET/CT based primary staging.

Abstract Accurate segmentation of organs-at-risk (OARs) is necessary for adaptive head and neck (H&N) cancer treatment planning but manual delineation is tedious, slow, and inconsistent. A Self-Channel-and-Spatial-Attention neural network (SCSA-Net) is developed for H&N OARs segmentation on CT images. To simultaneously ease the training and improve the segmentation performance, the proposed SCSA-Net utilizes the self-attention ability of the network. Spatial and channel-wise attention learning mechanisms are both employed to adaptively force the network to emphasize on the meaningful features and weaken the irrele...

Discussion and Review of the Literature. Oncologist. 2020 Feb 24;: Authors: Grecea M, Marabelle A, Ammari S, Massard C, Champiat S Abstract A breakthrough in oncology over the last 5 years, immunotherapy has proved its salutary effects in a wide range of solid tumors. The targeting of the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1)/programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) pathway can restore a competent antitumor T-cell response by addressing key tumor immune evasion mechanisms. This novel mechanism of action is associated with new patterns of responses that were not observed with conventional treatments s...

ConclusionsThe single-port approach has advantages as easier surgical planning and transition for combined and multi-quadrants surgeries: faster recovery, minimal postoperative pain and need for opioids, and excellent cosmetic outcome. We suggest that combined procedures should be performed only in high volume institutions by surgeons with vast experience in robotic surgery in selected patients.ResumenIntroducciónPresentar el primer caso de cirugía multicuadrante concomitante —prostatectomía radical robótica y nefrectomía parcial robótica izquierda— realizadas con t&eac...

Authors: Regnier P, De Luca V, Brunelle S, Sfumato P, Walz J, Rybikowski S, Maubon T, Branger N, Fakhfakh S, Durand M, Gravis G, Pignot G Abstract BACKGROUND: Sarcopenia is suspected to influence the complication rates in patients undergoing radical cystectomy (RC). The aim of our study was to assess variations in sarcopenia in patients scheduled for neoadjuvant cisplatin-based chemotherapy (NAC) and RC for muscle invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) and to explore the impact of sarcopenia on complications linked to NAC or surgery. METHODS: Between 2012 and 2017, 82 consecutive patients who underwent NAC and RC for c...
