A $58 bill spurs lawsuit claiming local hospital overcharges for medical records

Patients have filed a lawsuit against Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence claiming that they were charged fees in excess of what the law allows. They seek class-action status. The case originated with Jeffrey Bowden, a patient from Independence who requested electronic copies of his medical records pertaining to treatment received at Centerpoint.
