Make the Diagnosis: Difficulty Walking, Petechiae, & Other Issues in a Boy with Autism

(MedPage Today) -- A 5-year-old boy previously diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder was brought to the pediatrician after he started limping and sometimes refused to walk at all. He seemed to bruise easily, and his parents noted petechiae on his legs. They reported that sometimes his gums bleed when he brushes his teeth. Over the past three months, he had only been interested in eating a very small variety of foods. His parents were concerned that due to his autism spectrum disorder he was losing developmental milestones. Can you diagnose the patient?
