Over the past 2 decades, mindfulness has gained increasing popularity in the West as a means to develop a deeper sense of happiness and personal calm. Mindfulness is proposed as a potentially useful practice for an array of health conditions, including anxiety disorders, chronic pain, overeating, depression, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (Didonna, 2009).
