ConclusionThe results of the present metanalysis support a paradigm shift in arthrogenous TMJ disorder treatment. Conclusions: Based on the limited evidence of available trials, complementary therapy seemed to be slightly more effective than remaining treatment modalities for pain reduction in TMD patients with masticatory muscle pain. High-quality randomized controlled trials are expected to validate the findings.
