(Reuters) - Eli Lilly&Co said on Monday that its drug Jardiance, along with insulin therapy, met the main goal of two trials testing it in patients with type 1 diabetes.

(Joslin Diabetes Center) In people with type 1 diabetes without known cardiovascular disease, the presence of autoantibodies against heart muscle proteins was associated with cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging evidence of increased volume of the left ventricle (the heart's main pumping chamber), increased muscle mass, and reduced pumping function (ejection fraction), features that are associated with higher risk of failure in the general population
The aim of the study was to establish whether suboptimal self-management explains the relationship between stressful life events and hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) in adolescents with type 1 diabetes and whether these relationships differ across race/ethnicity.
To evaluate the changes in cardiovascular risk factors (CVRFs) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) in patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD) who were candidates for kidney-pancreas transplantation (KPTx) from 1999 to 2017.
Conclusions/interpretationGAD-alum immunisation activates and propagates GAD-specific CD4 T cells with a distinctive bifunctional phenotype, the functional analysis of which might be important in understanding therapeutic responses.

CONCLUSIONS: Relaxation techniques as an adjunct to medical treatment are a useful tool for patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus. PMID: 32239448 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
Conclusions: Overall, co-aggregation was more pronounced in monozygotic than in dizygotic twins, suggesting that disease overlap is largely attributable to genetic factors. Co-aggregation was common, and twins faced up to a ten-fold risk of developing diseases not present in their co-twin. Our results validate and refine previous heritability estimates based on smaller twin cohorts. PMID: 32229696 [PubMed - in process]
