Publication date: Available online 12 November 2019Source: Wound MedicineAuthor(s): Tanay Bihani, Abhishek Bura, Nilesh MhaskeAbstractWound healing is a general repair response or process of the body immediately after the disruption of the skin integrity. However wound healing is a complex process in which body repairs itself. The aim of this research is to study the wound healing activity of ethanolic extract of Plumeria obtusa leaves and to study the efficacy of formulated 2.5%, 5% and 10% Plumeria obtusa sprays in in-vivo wound healing models. The spray was prepared in three formulations F1, F2 and F3 containing 2.5% (5...

This study compares the postoperative pain and opioid use in patients managed for surgery with general anesthesia (GA) with patients who were given combined epidural and general anesthesia (E/GA) with continuing postoperative epidural analgesia. Methods All patients who underwent penile inversion vaginoplasty between May of 2016 and May of 2018 under the care of single surgeon were identified retrospectively, 18 patients of which met the inclusion criteria. A retrospective chart review was conducted. Outcome measures were postoperative pain using visual analog scale, type and dosage of postoperatively administered intra...

Conclusions Continuous or intermittent wound infusion is safe and effective in reducing pain scores and opioid consumption in plastic surgery. Though the overall pain-lowering effect appears to be modest, ease of catheter insertion and patient satisfaction make this technique an alluring alternative to more validated approaches such as neuraxial or peripheral nerve blocks.

In conclusion, the diagnosis of hypoperfusion/microcirculatory abnormalities in peripheral non-vital organs was associated with increased mortality. However, additional studies must be undertaken to verify if this association can be considered a marker of the gravity or a trigger factor for organ failure in sepsis.ResumoEmbora evidências crescentes apoiem a monitorização da perfusão periférica em pacientes sépticos, nenhuma revisão sistemática foi realizada para explorar a força da associação entre a má perfusão avaliada na microcircu...

Tendinopathy affects also middle-aged overweight patients with no history of increased physical activity. Tendinopathy is the result of a chronic failure of healing response. Several conservative therapeutic options have been proposed. The management of tendinopathy is primarily conservative, and many patients respond to such measures. Eccentric exercises and shock wave therapy provide promising excellent clinical results. H...
