Spectrum of MDCT findings in blunt chest trauma patients at a tertiary health care University Hospital: A single-centre experience
Conclusion Chest trauma may cause significant morbidity, and MDCT could lead to critical changes in a patient's management.
Conclusions: For one-level ACDF, the anchored cage with screws has some advantage compared to the stand-alone PEEK cage in avoiding dysphagia and restoring disc space height and cervical lordosis. We suggest the anchored spacer may be a good substitute for the stand-alone cage in one-level ACDF. Level of Evidence: Level II
In this case study, we investigated the efficacy of mirror therapy and online counseling in the management of phantom limb pain. The patient was a 28-year-old woman who experienced phantom limb pain after a traumatic transhumeral amputation three and a half months before initiating therapy. After a 40-minute educational session with a nurse researcher experienced in pain management and surgical nursing, the patient practiced mirror therapy at home for four weeks and kept in contact with the nurse using a mobile chat application. The patient scored the intensity of her pain before and after each practice session on a 0-to-1...
Authors: Kushnarev M, Pirvulescu IP, Candido KD, Knezevic NN Abstract Introduction: Neuropathic pain is a chronic condition that significantly affects the quality of life of millions of people globally. Most of the pharmacologic treatments currently in use demonstrate modest efficacy and over half of all patients do not respond to medical management. Hence, there is a need for new, efficacious drugs. Evidence points toward voltage-gated sodium channels as a key target for novel analgesics.Area covered: The role of voltage-gated sodium channels in pain pathophysiology is illuminated and the preclinical and clinical ...
Authors: Lespasio MJ, Guarino AJ Abstract Heterotopic ossification (HO) is the presence of normal bone in soft tissue where bone should not exist. After direct musculoskeletal trauma of the surrounding soft tissue, HO is hypothesized to develop from a dysfunction of normal lamellar bone formation and remodeling that appears in nonskeletal areas of the body. Acquired HO related to total joint arthroplasty (TJA) of the hip and knee forms outside the joint capsule and can be a challenging condition when it impairs the essential healing process after elective surgery. Although HO is rare after elective TJA and thus cli...

This study compares the opioid prescriber rate (OPR) among different physician specialties including IR on a national and state level using Medicare data.
Management of patients ’ pain and anxiety plays an important part in the overall experience of treatment. With an emphasis on opioid-sparing approaches there has been an explosion of medical apps, but few provide evidence of their efficacy, and placebo-controlled trials are needed.
To compare patients who underwent superior hypogastric nerve block (SHNB) versus those who did not for post procedure pain management after uterine artery embolization (UAE).
The purpose of this study is to retrospectively analyze and compare the incidence of diarrhea and/or other gastrointestinal side effects in two cohorts of patients who underwent CT-guided celiac plexus neurolysis with either alcohol or cryoablation for the management of intractable abdominal pain over a 5-year period at a tertiary academic care center.
Epidural injections are minimally invasive procedures that are common practices for discogenic pain management in the interventional radiology (IR) department. While these procedures have been found to be a widely accepted modality for pain management in adults, there is a gap in literature regarding their effectiveness in the pediatric population. These procedures may be conducted via various approaches including interlaminar epidural, transforaminal epidural, sacroiliac (SI)-directed injections, and pars interarticularis steroid injection procedures which will be described.
