Reply to: “Protective effects of heme oxygenase 1 during ischemia-reperfusion injury: Hepatocytes or non parenchymal cells?”

We thank Xu et al. for their insightful comments on our recently published papers in Journal of Hepatology1 and American Journal of Transplantation,2 in which we documented the importance of macrophage heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) on macrophage activation and graft autophagy regulation in the pathophysiology of hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI).
