Predicting postoperative hemorrhage after pediatric tonsillectomy

I read with great interest the article by Hsueh et al. in a recent issue of the journal [1]. The authors performed a retrospective study on 17,326 children who underwent inpatient tonsillectomies and concluded that age, surgical indication, comorbidities, and drug administration were associated with readmission or reoperation. The authors should be congratulated for performing a well-designed study in an important topic (e.g., complications) in pediatric patients undergoing surgery [2,3]. Moreover, the need to reduce readmissions and perioperative costs is a very relevant topic in perioperative medicine [4,5].
