Two new phenylpropanoids from Amomum paratsao-ko S. Q. Tong et Y. M. Xia

Publication date: August 2018 Source:Phytochemistry Letters, Volume 26 Author(s): Ling Chai, Bai-Zhao Liang, Ming-Sheng Chen, Bu-Ming Liu, Xiao Lin Two new phenylpropanoids, trans-(decyl-2-ene)-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-phenyl)propenoate (1) and trans-10-hydroxydecyl-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl) propenoate (2) were isolated from Amomum paratsao-ko S. Q. Tong et Y. M. Xia. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic methods including 1D and 2D NMR and MS spectra. The new compounds were both evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activities via examination of the effect on IL-6 and MCP-1 in LPS-stimulated BV2 microglial cells. Both compounds 1 and 2 upregulate MCP-1 expression, and compound 1 significantly reduces IL-6 expression. These results indicate that compound 1 has the potential for development as an anti-inflammatory agent. Graphical abstract
